Ben Tompkins Named Chair of KCMBA’s Tax Law Committee

Kennyhertz Perry attorney Ben Tompkins has been named chair of the Tax Law Committee for 2020. This committee considers the laws and procedures pertaining to federal, state and local taxation; promotes its fair and just administration; studies and reports upon proposed, necessary or desirable legislation; and promotes legal education to members of KCMBA and the public on taxation law. Tompkins previously served as vice-chair of the Tax Law Committee for 2019.

Ben Tompkins works closely with individuals and companies, providing guidance and counsel in all aspects of tax controversies, white-collar criminal defense, internal investigations, and corporate compliance and has extensive experience successfully defending clients in all types of complex litigation in federal and state courts. Before returning to Kansas City, Mr. Tompkins served for more than three years at the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Los Angeles and then prior to that he served almost eight years as a trial attorney for the U.S. Department of Justice Tax Division in Washington, D.C. focusing on civil and criminal tax litigation.
